What I am about to write is not a joke. I repeat: it is not a joke.

As a rule, people have no earthly idea what a courier is.

Call me crazy, but it is unfortunately ever so true. Our company is misunderstood by many and completely ignored by others. Yet, we help make this city go round. We work through the night to make sure items of all shapes and sizes get to their destinations on time and without a hitch. And yet, with the importance we carry, I still get asked all of the time: what does a courier do?

So today I figured it was high time to dispel the myth – to set the record straight. For those of you who don’t know what courier companies in Dallas do, this will open your eyes to an exciting industry. For those of you who think we only deliver top secret documents a few times a year, hold on to your hats!

A Courier is:

• A woman or man. Some people truly think only men can be couriers. Chalk it up to people thinking only men are good at directions, I guess. But I’ll tell ya, some of our best couriers are women! Oh, and dispatchers, too!
• Fast. Couriers don’t get the high-time jobs by lazily making deliveries. They are quick on their feet and quick in navigating through traffic. Especially in making deliveries in DFW, couriers have to be fast.
• They deliver. What, you ask? Well that may friend is the question of the hour. At Dallas Courier, we literally deliver anything and everything. Contrary to popular opinion, we do not only deliver papers (we do of course, but that is not our only delivery item). I think the vast majority of people would be surprised to spend a day in the life of our couriers. Check our a small sampling of what we deliver:

• Food. Yes, that’s correct. Food is a far cry from a paper document, eh? From wine and liquor to cakes and cookies, we have done it all.
• Furniture. A courier company can’t deliver bulk items, right? WRONG! We do. In fact, we delivered a huge (96 inches) dining table just this morning. Oh, and 8 chairs. And we had room in our bobtail to spare.
• Photos. Do you think photographers have time to run around town getting every print? They don’t. They are busy shooting. Our careful couriers handle even the most delicate of items. And trust me, a woman’s bridal portrait is definite a delicate item.
• Medical specimens. If you’re squeamish, stop reading. I’m about to say the word “blood.” Blood. See, I said it. And we deliver it. Jealous, much? Our medical deliveries Dallas team is awesome.
