Food Deliveries Dallas: Mardi Gras Deliveries

Food Deliveries DallasYou ready to party?!? Actually, I am banking on the fact that most people will be working instead of partying, but we can all pretend, right? Our Dallas Courier team will actually get to celebrate a little – chances are that many of them will be making a few Mardi Gras-themed deliveries tomorrow.

Oh Mardi Gras. The day before Lent. A day of colorful beads and envelope-pushing outfits. While we won’t be making deliveries in New Orleans (thank goodness! I don’t think we could get out super rush deliveries DFW done on Bourbon Street), we will be busy little bees in DFW. Want to know the main courier service utilized on Mardi Gras? Dallas food deliveries.

Huh? What? OK, seriously? Food?

Yep, Dallasites love a good King Cake, and if you need one delivered, give our DFW food deliveries team a call. King Cakes (and cakes of any sort for that matter) are our specialty.

For those of you not hailing from New Orleans (or in case you just live under a rock), King Cake is a traditional and popular must-have treat for Mardi Gras. And not surprisingly, if people are cooped up in the office all day instead of enjoying a party in New Orleans, then getting a King Cake delivered at least lessens the blow. In honor of our food couriers Dallas team, I am dishing up some King Cake facts and a recipe if you’re so inclined to bake this evening.

  • King Cake is eaten at Christmastime across the globe. In New Orleans, it is eaten on Fat Tuesday (the day before Lent).
  • King Cake typically has a small trinket hidden in the pastry. Usually, the trinket is a plastic baby Jesus. Whoever gets it in their cake gets privileges – it’s basically a good luck charm.
  • Classically, it is decorated with white icing with green, purple and gold sprinkles.
  • The cake is named after the three kings of the Bible.

And for those of you who are ambitious, here is a King Cake recipe. And in case you need it delivered somewhere, call us – our Dallas food deliveries team will be on it!

  • 3 (14 ounce) cans refrigerated sweet roll dough
  • 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans creamy vanilla ready-to-spread frosting
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 drops green food coloring
  • 2 drops yellow food coloring
  • 1 drop red food coloring
  • 1 drop blue food coloring
  • 1/2 cup multi-colored sprinkles
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  • Open the cans of sweet roll dough and unroll the dough from each can into 3 strands. Place 3 dough strands side by side and gather them together to make one large strand. Fold this in half, and roll slightly to make a fat log. Repeat steps with the remaining dough. Place each log on the prepared baking sheet and shape to make a ring, overlapping the ends and pinching them together to make a complete circle. Pat the dough into shape as necessary to make the ring even in size all the way around. Cover loosely with foil.
  • Bake until firm to the touch and golden brown, 50 to 60 minutes.
  • Place the cake ring on a serving plate. Cut a slit along the inside of the ring and insert a small plastic baby, pushing it far enough into the cake to be hidden from view.
  • Drizzle the cake with yellow, green, and purple frostings in any desired pattern. Dust the cake with multi-colored sprinkles and decorate with beads, additional plastic babies, curly ribbon, and other festive trinkets.
