At Dallas Courier, we want to inFLUence you this season. We want to inFLUence your ability to stay happy, healthy, and flu-free. The flu-free part is what are focusing on today. If you haven't heard, flu season is in high gear. People are dropping like flies. All I ever hear these days is how sick so-and-so is and how he or she can't get out of bed. It scares me. I got pretty darn sick mid-December, and I feared it was the flu. Turns out it was the common cold that just so happened to lay me out like a stuck pig roasting over a fire. If you don't get my metaphor, let me spell it out: I was sick - really, really sick.
And I don't want any of our clients or loyal readers to get sick this season - with the flu or the common cold. Both are bad, but the flu is certainly worse. So, our medical deliveries Dallas team decided a flu based blog was in order. Our medical courier services Dallas team knows a thing or two about the flu season. They are in and out of hospitals, medical centers, private offices and labs all day long. So they are justifiably scared of the flu. But a little fear never hurt anyone. In fact, it can help, especially in this case. The flu is a dangerous, potentiall life threatening illness. It is no joke. So buckle down and pay attention - our medical delivery services Dallas team has a lot to say:
- Wash your hands. Then, wash them again... and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again. Use some antibacterial gel while you're at it. Keeping your hands clean at all times a good way to keep away from catching the flu. Not only does washing your hands protect you, it also protects others that you may unintentionally spread the virus to. Wash up - and be sure to get your thumbs and in between each finger. Oh and clean under your fingernails - those are tricky places that can be carriers of plenty of bacteria and viruses that I can assure you you don't want. Use hot water and wash for at least 20 seconds. Don't be afraid to take your time. Rushing through hand washing is dangerous for catching the flu and just plain unacceptable. (Is my cynical tone toward the flu showing yet? I was afraid of that...)
- Get the vaccine. It's not too late. There are plenty of places still offering the shot. Now, be reminded that the flu shot does not protect against all strands. I think it protects against 60%. If you ask me, 60% is better than no percent, right? Click here to locate a flu shot location near you. As a note, the flu season can last until May. Yes, you read that correctly: May.
- If you find yourself sneezing and/or coughing, use a tissue and wash your hands frequently. Cough or sneeze into the crease of your arm. Do not cough or sneeze into your hands. That's not helping things! If someone around you is coughing or sneezing, maybe gently remind them to wash their hands. If they don't comply, maintain your distance. Avoid touching doors after them and do not touch them. Droplets in the air can infect you just as sure as I'm sitting here.
- Drink plenty of water. Wait for that now famous flu blog cynicism - I did not, I repeat, I did not say drink plenty of Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite, Beer, Margaritas, Mr. Pibb, Squirt (yes, it still exists). Drink water. H20 is the only way to go.
Our medical couriers DFW team is encouraging everyone to be flu conscious. Be smart, be safe and you can hopefully avoid the dreaded flu this season. Good luck! (Now go wash your hands... yes, I'm serious).
