Around this time every year, I start regretting not seeing more movies. And then I remember that going to the movies is at least 30 bucks for just my husband and me! For some, you may be able to get away with only spending about $22, but I HAVE to have popcorn and a coke. So a night at the movies is a fancy treat at our house. But awards season always makes me wish every night was a movie night.
Why? Well, the presenters talk about all of these fabulous cinematic accomplishments, and truth be told, I haven't usually seen a one of them! Not a one! You're probably wondering why I even bother watching any awards shows if I don't know what they are being awarded for... I wonder that, too. And yet, when the Golden Globes were on last night, I just had to watch. A sparkling event filled with enough evening gowns to make any girl smile, cute actors, beautiful actresses, funny acceptance speeches, odd acceptance speeches, excited faces, tear-jerking moments and, of course, the red carpet.
Whether I have seen the movies or not suddenly doesn't seem so important when I list all of the other fun things to see when watching an awards show. Nonetheless, after last night, I have vowed to see the following movies: Lincoln, Argo, Les Mis, Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Silver Linings Playbook, Hyde Park on Hudson, Hope Springs, and Skyfall. I have quite a bit to see. Here's to hoping RedBox has a lot of these.
Awards are fun, no doubt about it. Our Dallas Courier services home office is a buzz with Golden Globes talk. A few ladies here including one of our awesome dispatchers for our 24 hour delivery services Dallas team and one of our friendly customer service representatives decided the Dallas Courier favorite gown of the night: Jennifer Garner. She looked fabulous and timelessly classic. Plus, her hubby won best motion picture, drama. I personally thought Isla Fisher looked stunning as well in her sparkly get up. What girl can say no to twinkling like a star?
