Can it be? Is it true? Say it is so! It looks like fall might be upon us, North Texas. Now, I know people up north may laugh when I say this, but the good news is, I'm not writing it for them. I'm writing it for my fellow Texans. Those who have pride in this great state. Those who respect the heat, even love it. But when summer ends, we aren't too sad to say goodbye. We are ready for a break from 100 plus degree days. We welcome the 'cool.'
a. A nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.
b. An interval separating two points on this continuum; a duration: a long time since the last war; passed the time reading.
c. A number, as of years, days, or minutes, representing such an interval: ran the course in a time just under four minutes.
d. A similar number representing a specific point on this continuum, reckoned in hours and minutes: checked her watch and recorded the time, 6:17 a.m.
e. A system by which such intervals are measured or such numbers are reckoned: solar time.
I've been a part of quite a few companies during my lifetime. Want to know what most companies value: their biggest clients. The biggest clients bring in the most business, so they often get the most attention.
Then I joined Dallas Courier. Here, things are different. Unlike many other companies including Dallas courier services, Dallas Courier values each and every client, big and small. I always say that Dallas Courier is our name and service is our game. We value our clients for whom we handle 200 Dallas deliveries per day via our route deliveries Dallas just as much as we value our one-time clients for whom we handle a small 45 minute delivery Dallas.
Remember the days of hand-operated car windows? Remember the days of tape players? Remember the days of turning a key to start your car? Remember the days of regular, old fashioned radio (before the advent of XM & Sirius)? Remember the days of touch-screenless cars? Remember the days when you you turned around to check your blindspots (now cars beep at you if an object is in your blindspot)? Remember parallel parking without computer assistance? Remember reversing without a back-up camera? Remember the days of not having a cell phone in your car? Remember the days of Mapscos, not GPS units? Remember the days of cars that didn't fly?
Fact: there are little-known industries in the world. Fact: I intend to bring one of darkness.
While the rest of the Continental U.S. may be enjoying Springtime, us Texans are gearing up for Summer. As all good Texans know, we have two seasons: summer and half summer. Summer is super hot, and half summer happens when others experience winter. I can hardly call November through February winter here in Texas. It aint snowing and it aint cold. So, thus my new name, “half summer.” It’s half as hot.
On Tuesday of last week, I was in an absolute panic. I imagine many of you were, too. I can speak for our Dallas deliveries team and say it was downright scary. During those touch and go moments, we just didn’t know where or if tornadoes were going to touch down.
Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
